Barnsley is a town in South Yorkshire, England, located at the confluence of the rivers Don and Sheaf.

Since the Industrial Revolution, the town of Barnsley has been a major coal mining area. The coal industry has been hit hard by the decline in demand for coal, and the last deep mine closed in 2015. Nowadays, Barnsley is primarily known for its football club, Barnsley F.C., which plays in League One.

Barnsley is also known for its other industries such as engineering and manufacturing. For example, it is home to the headquarters of Wren Kitchens Ltd., one of Britain’s largest kitchen manufacturers.
